Film: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

DVD: Enhanced 16x9
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition)

"You're late."
"A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to."

Review: This movie totally captures the spirit of the books and the casting was almost perfect. As a huge fan of the book, I can't say that I don't have a few quibles with a few of the changes, but this is a movie and I really enjoy it on its own merits. This movie has great acting and the visual splendor gets better everytime I see it. The most emotional moment of the movie trilogy for me was Boromir's death.

Favorite Scene: In the mines of Moria, after Gandalf falls, there is a wide shot of the Fellowship running up the stairs. There is a beautiful shot of Aragorn, who is last, pausing and looking back one last time across the chasm before continueing up the stair.

"Be on your guard. There are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world."

"Fool of a Took. Throw yourself in next time, and rid us of your stupidity."

4 out of 4 Stars - EPIC
